YouTube Music seems to be having issues casting to Chromecast devices. According to 9To5Google, a number of users in different corners of the internet are unable to allow YouTube Music to be cast to their devices. These reports come from the Google forum and from Reddit.
Casting is a big part of many people’s lives. It allows them to take the content on their phone and send it directly to a smart TV or streaming dongle. It is often a more convenient solution as users are usually signed in to all their accounts on their phones. This means they don’t have to log in on the other device as well.
YouTube TV has issues casting across devices
While casting is very useful, it’s not super useful if it doesn’t work. There is a slew of reports from multiple sources pointing out that YouTube music has casting issues. On Reddit and the forum of Google people sounded. Also, people from 9To5Google were able to reproduce this problem.
When the user tries to cast to a supporting device, the user is presented with the YouTube TV splash screen, and that’s it. There would be no music playing at all. After a while, the startup screen would disappear and the device would just disconnect. No error message or any kind of feedback would be displayed.
This bug seems to affect different Chromecast devices on different operating systems. Some users used the Chromecast Ultra, while other users used third-party streaming devices. This casting issue seems to affect YouTube Music on both Android TV and Google TV.
At this time, Google has not responded to this issue. When it eventually picks up on this, hopefully the company should have a fix for it.
