Why are collecting card games gaining popularity?
Remember how many hours you spent playing Heroes of Might and Magic? If you missed the golden age of 90s fantasy games, you may have played Gwent or shuffled the cards in the Game of Thrones card game.
And even if you’re not a big fan of card games, you’ve definitely heard of Hearthstone.
Either way, collectible card games (CCG) have their own large and dedicated community. The CCG genre is over 100 years old and started in the early 1900s with collectible baseball cards.
The genre experienced a revolution in 1997 when the first online CCG ChronX and Sanctum came out.
Since then, the DCCG (Digital Collectible Card Game) genre has been growing year after year without losing its popularity. Today, according to the report, the collectible . market is
card games is worth nearly $13 billion and will grow at an annual rate of 16.5% for the next few years. According to the analysts, the market will reach a volume of $36 billion by 2028.
Interest in DCCG is increasing due to the rapid development of the play-to-earn (P2E) games sector. The market cap of P2E games is now over $20 billion.
Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit, believes that in 5 years, 90% of the video game market will be owned by P2E games.
It should be noted that a large part of the P2E market is occupied by CBG (Card Blockchain Games). Axie Infinity occupies for example
more than 20% of the market. Combining these two driving forces – blockchain technology and the fantasy nostalgia of the 90s – a team of three dedicated fantasy fans is releasing the BoarWar card game built on the Ethereum blockchain.
From the Middle Ages to the 1990s: What do we know about BoarWar?
BoarWar is a collector’s card game, made in the best traditions of the fantasy genre, where players can fight against each other, invade other players’ lands and create their own dynasties.
With its colorful design and clever combat system, BoarWar is as addictive as the best strategy games of the 90s.
The gameplay is based on the exploration of Aurora Boarealis, the fictional universe where BoarWar takes place, as well as quests and PvP battles.
The game’s battle base consists of 8,000 original playable characters, all unique boar warriors that will be released as NFTs in April 2022 and written on the Ethereum blockchain.
The BoarWar NFT Collection brings together 150 elements from 14 categories such as weapons, helmets, armor, tusks, etc. to create combat units for the actual game.
In June 2022, the team will release additional playing cards known as Boarette NFTs. Boarette NFTs is a collection of female boars that allow a user to create new offspring – playable NFT characters that can also be used in combat.
All boars are equal, but some boars are more equal than others, that’s why the game contains 4 different character classes: elite, high, middle and low class.
Players who own the elite characters are given a piece of land in the form of NFT where they can build an estate that will generate some income on a regular basis. Players can also make a profit by completing missions and winning battles against each other.
The cost of one Boar NFT starts at 0.04 ETH, which is cheaper than the average price for new collections built on Ethereum. Pre-sale tokens can be purchased for 0.03 ETH with a 25% discount.
Middle Ages tokenomics
BoarWar’s economic system will resemble the real economy of the Middle Ages. To ensure the functioning of the BoarWar metaverse, two native tokens are released: ACORN and TRUFFLE.
The first is used for in-game activities – this is the currency that the user earns in-game. It can be instantly converted to Ethereum or Bitcoin when needed. At the same time, the TRUFFLE token for governance will be distributed among players and investors.
TRUFFLE aims to help the team achieve their ultimate goal: to make the game fully decentralized in terms of governance and development.
At the beginning of 2023, the first round of the closed token sale will take place with an initial price of $0.10. In 2023 and 2024 there will be 4 additional rounds of closed sales for partners, investors and the most active members of the community.
12% of the total supply of the TRUFFLE token will be sold during the public sale with the release date to be announced.
No bears were hurt
The project team is concerned about the issue of sustainable development and will help people who cannot protect themselves.
For this reason, 5% of the sales profit of the NFT collection goes to the funds whose main mission is to protect wildlife.
The team has selected two funds to which the donations will be made: WWF and SAVEME. Let’s only hunt NFT bears and respect wildlife is the statement with which the creators of BoarWar launch their project.
The game is already in development and the public token sale is scheduled for April. However, there are already more than 5,000 members on the project’s Discord server and nearly 10,000 followers on Twitter. This is just the beginning of BoarWar’s long journey, with ambitious goals already set until 2028, the BoarWar team is clearly striving to become the new industry standard for P2E games.
