Opera, the developer of its eponymous multi-platform web browser, today added support for eight major blockchains as part of its “giant leap to web3.”
Opera, the company behind the world’s first native web3 browser with built-in crypto wallet, today announced it is adding support for several major blockchain ecosystems, including Solana, Polygon, StarkEx, Ronin, Celo, Nervos, IXO and Bitcoin. the company revealed. on his blog.
According to the announcement, the integration will allow users to “access the vast ecosystem of Polygon or Solana dApps or the benefits of Layer 2 DeFi via StarkWare-powered DiversiFi.” Additionally, Axie Infinity players can manage their non-fungible token-based creatures by accessing the Ethereum-based Ronin Network (which was ironically hacked for over $615 million yesterday).

The launch also expanded users’ access to proof-of-stake blockchain, as well as Ethereum’s Layer-2 solutions Polygon and StarkEx, Opera said, adding:
“By accessing these blockchains, users can benefit from lower gas costs and faster transactions, while minimizing their carbon footprint and still leveraging Ethereum’s robust decentralization and security.”
Overall, the integration of multiple major blockchains and Layer-2 networks at once is “an important strategy in Opera’s mission to remain chain agnostic” and enable millions of users to access Web3 “in an environmentally conscious manner.”
“Eventually, Web3 is on its way to becoming a mainstream web technology and users don’t need to know they’re interacting with it. They need to get a superior user experience and a real benefit,” said Jorgen Arnesen, EVP Mobile at Opera.
Such as CryptoSlate reported, Opera started beta testing its dedicated Crypto Browser in late January. With an integrated cryptocurrency wallet and web3 support, Opera’s Crypto Browser Project is designed to work with a variety of decentralized applications. The browser also offers a so-called Crypto Corner, which allows users to access the latest blockchain news, airdrops and events.
