The OnePlus 10 Pro’s 5G situation in the US is rather strange and you should know the details before pulling the trigger. The situation differs from one carrier to another.
The 5G situation of the OnePlus 10 Pro in the US is interesting
T-Mobile is the only US carrier to sell the phone, so you should expect it to offer great 5G support. Well, it does. The OnePlus 10 Pro runs on low-band and mid-band 5G, if you have a T-Mobile SIM card in it. T-Mobile’s mid-band is the carrier’s strong point, so that’s good news.
What about Verizon? Well, according to CNET, the company is still working on certifying the OnePlus 10 Pro to run on low- and mid-band 5G. So there’s a good chance it will get good support, but maybe not before its April 14 release. Also keep in mind that the OnePlus 10 Pro doesn’t support 5G mmW in the US, so you won’t be able to take full advantage of what Verizon has to offer.
If you’re an AT&T user, you’re out of luck, at least when it comes to 5G. You can’t get 5G on AT&T at all with the OnePlus 10 Pro. It seems that OnePlus does not want to have the OnePlus 10 Pro certified with AT&T 5G. However, you can take advantage of 4G LTE.
T-Mobile is the best choice, while Verizon is also an option
So there you have it. Of course, if you plan on using 5G, T-Mobile is your best bet as the phone is sold through that carrier. You’ll get Verizon 5G support soon, but not 5G mmW. If you really plan to buy the OnePlus 10 Pro and use 5G, you’ll want to avoid AT&T.
Ideally, the OnePlus 10 Pro would work flawlessly with all carriers, but that’s not the case. You’ll still be able to use 4G LTE with all three carriers with no problem though, so that shouldn’t be an issue for most unless you’re future-proofed.
The OnePlus 10 Pro launched globally yesterday, a few months after its launch in China. The company launched a single flagship smartphone this time, we didn’t get the vanilla version.
This device is quite powerful. It comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, a 6.7-inch QHD+ LTPO2 Fluid AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a large battery. It also supports 80W (65W in the US) thenewsupdate charging and 50W wireless charging.
There are also three fairly capable cameras on the back, while Android 12 comes pre-installed along with OxygenOS 12.1. Click here for more specification info. You can also pre-order the device.
